Hi, I live in Cornwall but my Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Shillcock, lived in Sands Square LC. She died in the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918. her father was Joseph, her sister Sarah and brotherJohn, (there may have been others). The men of the family were limestone quarrymen and the girls were lace chenillers(whatever they are!)
Are there any Shillcocks still living in LC? If so, I would love to here from you. Also, would anybody be prepared to have a look in the church yard for any?
Thanks, Jean.

Hi Jean
Yes The Shillcocks lived at 103 Sands Square,I know that cos My Great Grandparents lived at Number 102 Sands Square and it's all on the 1901 Census.
There was Joseph(Head) Looks like Ann(wife) John(son),Elizabeth(daoughter),Sarah(Daughter).
Interesting that my Great Grandmother was a Lace Agent and employed people, because Elizabeth and Sarah Shillcock worked from home with lace.I wonder if they were employed by my Great Grandmother?

Hi Gareth, thanks for the reply. Looks like your Great Granny might have organised the work for mine somehow then!
I already had the census info, but I was curious as to whether any living ancestors still live in the area.
I'm looking forward to anybody else's replies or thoughts on this!
Jean
