LONG CLAWSON Break in -
Sally & Hec Heathcote at 40 Church Lane, corner of Barkers Field, were broken into yesterday Friday 22nd between 3.15 & 4.00pm. If anyone saw anything suspicious or cars parked in that vicinity or off Barkers Field, please report to the police. Please ask any of your friends and neighbours that have young children and could have been doing a school collect and passing that part of Church Lane at that time, if they saw anything unusual.
POLICE ISSUE WARNING TO MOTORISTS Friday 22 January 2010
A man claiming to be a police officer stopped a woman motorist near Orston after flashing his lights at her to pull over. Now police are warning motorists not to stop if other cars flash their lights at them after the incident, which happened in Bottesford Lane, Orston, at around 6.50pm last night (Thursday 21 January).
The woman, who was driving from Scarrington to Bottesford, pulled over and the man got out of his car and walked up to her vehicle. He claimed he was a police officer but could not produce any identification, so the woman drove off.
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “If police want to stop a vehicle they will always use blue lights, even if they are in an unmarked car, and officers should always produce their warrant card as a form of identification.” (LEICESTERSHIRE CONSTABULARY have stated that they would not stop a vehicle using an unmarked car).
The man has been described as white, 5ft 9in tall, and in his late 30s or early 40s. He was clean shaven, and had dark brown bushy eyebrows and a receding hairline. He was wearing a dark-coloured jacket with toggles at the neck, and was driving a dark-coloured Audi, believed to be an estate.
Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who saw an Audi driving through the Orston area at around 6.50pm last night should call Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 9999. Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. 2 THEFT of SCRAP in Bottesford Police have informed me of the theft of copper pipe from a back garden in Keel Drive, Bottesford yesterday. The vehicle was a blue flat-bed transit. No descriptions or reg numbers are available. Also, a white Transit was seen in suspicious circumstances in Nether Broughton. Residents are reminded of the need to note all suspicious behaviour of vehicles and people and to report the incidents immediately to Leicestershire Constabulary on 0116 222 2222. Vehicle registration numbers and descriptions are highly desirable.
