LATEST NEWS!!!!
Security firm has telephoned a resident that they will be working in claxton rise tomorrow. This may not be a genuine company. Do not give access or purchase anything unless identification is verified. If suspicious telephone Leicestershire Police on 0116 222 2222. John Rackstraw NHW
From Neighbourhood Beat Manager for the Belvoir Neighbourhood, PC Mark Longden.
I am asked on occasion what can be done to prevent unauthorised encampments and what can be done to have these people moved on. It would be very difficult to answer this as there are a great many variables in each individual case. Often the decision as to the appropriate course of action to be taken depends upon the ownership of the land that is trespassed upon. It is worth remembering that trespass is a civil offence and not a criminal offence.
Having dealt with a number of individual cases over the years I have found the best source of advice and information is the Leicestershire County Council. They have a dedicated Travellers Liaison Officer in Matthew Bagley who is more than happy to give general advice. A useful web page offering advice can be viewed at the below wed address or a leaflet outlining the information can be obtained direct from the county council.
www.leics.gov.uk/index/business/commercial_industrial_property/property_travellers_advice.htm
Remember, each case is individual and there are a number of agencies who have a responsibility to respond to a complaint. Often it is the Police who are initially contacted and we identify if criminal offences have taken place.
Please continue to report unauthorised encampments to Leicestershire Police and we will deal as appropriate.
PC 210 Mark Longden.

I have been very fortunate in obtaining a place in the Help for Heroes event for 2009, it has been called the Band of Brothers Bike Ride 2009 (BBBR09), and only 300 riders can take part.
